Southern Fried Groove Queens are a bluesy Mississippi Hill Country/Delta inspired duo coming fresh from the fryer of the UK’s Deep South. Gearing up for their debut EP release ‘That’s When The Blues Begins’ July 11th 2025. Their Live show has earned the band a fast growing and hard won reputation for their infectious boogie.
Formed during lockdown in 2021, after a chance meeting between Blues enthusiasts Lee Hall [Guitar/Vocals] & Lucy Piper [Drums]. It’s been cooked to perfection using a traditional recipe passed down through generations. From all organic ingredients, they provide that fiery heart thumping kick and delectable grooves that will make you want to get down.
Lee and Lucy play together brilliantly, with amazing and irrepressible energy, displaying an uncanny ability to follow one another’s moves. They manage to take some of the absolute all-time blues standards, and reinterpret them in their own up-tempo style, whilst never compromising the authenticity of the originals

Southern Fried Groove Queens play their reinterpretations of time honoured songs by the old blues masters such as ‘Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and R.L Burnside alongside their own burgeoning compositions. Releasing Debut single ‘Rattle Down’ to acclaim and gaining BBC introducing airplay.
They have played at many of the UK’s leading Blues and Jazz festivals, Including The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, Upton Blues Festival and Sidmouth Jazz & Blues; Capturing the imagination of blues fans hungry for a fresh take.
In 2023, the band scored their first international show at Ørland Blues Festival in Norway, where Bluesnews described their performance as “A fantastic concert that left many jaws dropping.” Returning back to the Scandinavian Country again in 2024 to play the Lofoten islands in the arctic circle.
With Lee’s unique haunting vocals, energetic slide playing, and Lucy’s infectious, hypnotic drumming, they create an irrepressible groove machine bigger than the sum of its parts. Be prepared to get down and ‘juke’ with them!
